Becoming a Governor

Maidenhill currently has no vacancies for Governors.

If you are considering putting yourself forward as a governor at Maidenhill in the future, the following information will help you:

What would you have to do?
  • Have time to attend an evening meeting about once a month. You can claim for childcare expenses.
  • Have time to visit the school occasionally to meet the staff and students.
  • Find out about how the school is run. Training will be given.
  • Give your opinion when decisions have to be made. We have half a dozen very experienced governors who will help you learn about your role and explain everything clearly so you know what is going on. Decisions are taken by the whole governing body - you don’t have individual responsibility.
  • Support the school. We need people who are interested in making our school the best it can be for the benefit of all our children - including yours.
What's in it for you?
  • Making a difference to your school.
  • Giving something back.
  • Meeting new people.
  • Being involved in interesting activities.
  • Seeing children’s achievements.
  • Helping children learn.
  • A chance to learn new skills. (How schools work, organising committees, working as a team)
  • It’s a worthwhile and rewarding thing to do
